Ever had one of those Saturdays where you felt like you didn’t really accomplish anything? Well, I sort of had one of those days today – except I did finally get around to doing some drawing just for fun:
I was in the mood to do some watercolor (although this is actually guache). The linework is a bit rough, mostly because I’m not used to inking on coarse watercolor paper. Still, this was a fun little exercise that will hopefully get me jazzed to do some more cartoons.
By the way, for those of you who have never seen what Funchy looks like (because he never actually appeared in my college cartoon series), now you know. He’s the father of Punjee and Bob, and his past is somewhat of a mystery…
Anyway, apart from that, I felt like this was a completely lazy Saturday. I had contemplated reading the rest of a novel I’m into (The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss – good, long story akin to Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter). However, that idea was soon dashed to the ground when I couldn’t find my Kindle anywhere. I’d left it at work. The office is locked on weekends, and I don’t have a key to get in. So, the only other alternative was to read an actual physical book from my shelf – none of which, quite frankly, looked remotely interesting. I’d already read most of them anyway. That led me to Powell’s, where I spent about a half-hour looking for something good to read. I failed.
So, I did grocery shopping, came home, had lunch, and sat around for a while until my eyes fell on my drafting table. That’s when I decided to draw, which took the rest of the day up until now.
You might be asking yourself, “Why didn’t he just go hang out with friends?” Excellent question. I’m still trying to answer that one myself.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I’ve also come down with a bit of a cold. It seemed like a good idea to lay low until the virus blows over. Otherwise, I would have gone for a run or something. Not much I can do about that.
It may have been a lazy Saturday so far, but there’s still a whole evening to go. Weekend’s don’t last very long, so I guess I’d better make the most of it.
Have a great evening, and God bless!
