Holy cow! I just ate a flaming omelette – with flaming hash browns on the side! I think I put (dumped) a tad bit too much of a certain hot sauce I got for Christmas into an otherwise delicious-looking meal. Of course, I had to put jalapeños in there, too. I don’t know what I was thinking.
After the first few bites of the hash browns, I jumped out of my seat in pain and lunged for a glass of milk. Then another. Bread! I looked in the cupboard and reached for a loaf. I found one, opened the bag, and marveled at all the colorful spots of mold. I made a mental note to buy more bread, then attempted to use a non-moldy slice as a sponge to soak up the flaming oils. Yuck! I threw away the slice and promptly stuck my tongue under cold running water in the sink. After a couple minutes, the pain finally started to subside.
I then proceeded to eat the whole omelette.
Clearly, I didn’t learn my lesson. That was, by far, the spiciest meal I have ever consumed in my entire life. Well, mostly consumed. I didn’t finish the flaming hash browns from hell.
In contrast, the rest of my day was pretty normal and low-key, save for going on a run with a fellow Nike worker during lunch. I met Matt at the church I’ve been attending since moving to Portland, and we hit it off pretty well. He’s got a trail running group that meets on weekends, and I’m thinking of joining them. Running with people is so much better than running alone!
So, this wraps up day two of my daily blogging endeavor! I’ve been stocking up on some ideas for comics to post, so stay tuned! I’ll leave you with a verse from my daily Scripture reading – this one from the book of Joshua:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
