Coincidence? I don’t think so.
Last weekend, I was part of a 6-person team that ran 217 miles from Diamond Lake to Summit High School in Bend, OR. This was our bib number. Fortunately, we never had to dial it.
If you’ve ever done a long relay run like this, then you’d know just how fun they can be. If you’ve never run one, then you’re probably wondering how any sane individual could possibly describe it as fun. I first got into it because my dad invited me along for the 2007 Hood to Coast (197 miles from Mt. Hood to Seaside, OR). The following year, we did the inaugural Cascade Lakes Relay – and I’ve done it every year since.
Why? Because it’s an adventure, and you’re with friends. Everyone carries each other through from start to finish, whether they’re out on the pavement or cheering from the van. You always come out of it with new experiences – new stories to tell.
How many of you have done a relay like this? Which one/s, and when? I’d love to hear about your experiences.
God bless, and good night!
